"Makerspaces serve as a gathering point for tools, projects, mentors and expertise. A collection of tools does not define a Makerspace. Rather we define it by what it enables: a community of making."

The library's Makerspace is a place where people with similar interests can come together to work on projects while sharing ideas and knowledge. It facilitates the construction of knowledge through the manipulation and creation of material objects. The space is well equipped with many different tools, materials, and information resources so patrons feel comfortable working on projects independently or in groups within the space that fall under three workbenches outlined below.

3D Creation 3D Printer, Carvey

3D creation allows users to create a physical object from a digital model. The library's Makerspace provides the tools necessary to complete your project, including the software to design the project, resources to finding an already designed open access file, a scanner to reproduce a physical item, and 3D printers to print your designs.

Files for 3D printing can be submitted online using our 3D printing request form. Files should be formatted as .STLs. Please plan ahead as prints can take anywhere from a few hours to multiple days, and a printing queue may form. 3D prints are charged a printing fee based on amount of filament used ($0.05 per gram of material).
