Community-Based Heritage Language Schools Conference

“There is no conference like it that gathers a network of practitioners, advocates, and researchers to encourage community building and collaboration to bridge research and actionable practice,” said Danielle Gervais Sodani, director of the Institute of Innovation in Education. Share resources, research-based practices, and build partnerships at the Oct. 7-8 event “The Power and Sustainability of Multilingualism,” either virtually or in Washington, DC. Check out the full schedule–registration is $25 virtually or $75 on-site. “This is our chance to connect, engage, and learn about the exciting work in the field of language education and in community-based schools,” said Joy Peyton, president of the Coalition of Community-Based Heritage Language Schools.

SOE Welcomes New Chief Development Officer

Danielle Bowes '08, Chief Development Officer, School of Education

We welcome Danielle Bowes (SIS ’08), an experienced fundraiser with a dozen years of experience at mission-driven nonprofits and political organizations, as our new Chief Development Officer. She was formerly the Director of Development for the Fairness Project overseeing fundraising for the organization running ballot measure campaigns, and served as Associate Director of Development at the Brookings Institution managing major individual and corporate unrestricted giving. "It’ll be rewarding to build meaningful long-term relationships with donors, many of whom will be fellow AU alum, and forge a stronger connection with this incredible community,” said Danielle, who started in September.
